Berdasarkan aplikasi pemakaian pelumas dibagi menjadi :

- Pelumas Automotif (<=50%) Penggolongan pelumas secara detail, diuraikan dalam Surat Keputusan Menteri Energi & Sumber daya Mineral No. 1693 K/34/mem/2001 Pelumas dibagi kedalam 17 golongan berdasarkan aplikasi PENGGOLONGAN PELUMAS : 1.
